Dental Veneers
Dental veneers offer an alternative to traditional porcelain restorations. Like traditional restorations, veneers are made from dental-grade ceramic and are used to address teeth imperfections such as chips, cracks, stains, and gaps. But, one of the major differences between veneers and conventional restorations is that the former can be fabricated in a matter of weeks while the latter could take several months.
When you visit our dental practice, our dentist may suggest veneers to treat your teeth imperfections. We will take an intraoral photograph and digital impressions of your teeth, which will be shared with our trusted dental laboratory for fabrication.
During your initial consultation with our dentist, we will conduct a thorough diagnosis of your mouth to understand your candidacy for veneers. If you have cavities or root canal infection that needs treatment first, we'll treat them and only then move on to placing veneers on your teeth. Once you're ready for the procedure, we will place a small amount of local anesthesia near your teeth before making an incision in their enamel surface. Any decay or damage present in them will be removed using ultrasonic scaling devices before we take digital impressions of the treated area using a hand-held scanning device. The data extracted will be sent to our trusted dental laboratory for fabricating the veneer restoration in a couple of weeks' time. During that period, we will bond the veneer to your tooth using dental adhesives and check its fit by biting into it. If required, we make necessary changes using a hand-held instrument and curing it in place using a laser beam of suitable intensity. Finally, we will polish it and instruct you on how to care for it at home so that it stays looking as good as new for a long time.
Dental Laminates
Dental laminates are thin, transparent coverings that can be placed over the front surface of your teeth. They can be used to improve your smile appearance and also serve functional purposes. The most common reasons for getting dental laminates are:
The dentist will carefully examine your mouth and decide which procedure is best for you. If you have unhealthy or decayed teeth, they will be cleaned before starting the procedure. The dentist will take an impression of the tooth and send it to a dental laboratory to create a customized restoration. Until the permanent restoration is fabricated, a temporary one is placed in the mouth to prevent damage until the permanent one is ready.
The permanent restoration will be made from porcelain or composite resin material. The laminates will be bonded to your teeth using dental adhesives. An etching solution will be applied to the tooth before placing the laminates, which helps to roughen its surface and thus improve bonding with the restoration. Once it is firmly fixed on the tooth, the dentist would check it for fit, bite, and comfort before permanently bonding it.
